NetWorker SNMP Module

Legato is pleased to announce the availability of the new NetWorker SNMP Module. The SNMP Module integrates NetWorker with popular Network Management Frameworks.

Increasingly, network management systems such as HP OpenView and SunNet Manager are being deployed to manage distributed networks. System administrators prefer a "single point of focus" to monitor, configure and control various aspects of their network. This includes the area of storage management.

The SNMP Module currently supports HP OpenView Network Node Manager and SunNet Manager. Support for other SNMP frameworks and network management frameworks will follow soon. This optional add-on module integrates NetWorker's storage management services into leading network management frameworks. This module allows communication of NetWorker's event notification system to SNMP-compliant network management stations through the use of a standard SNMP trap mechanism.

Key Benefits

• It receives and displays NetWorker event notifications and status information through the SNMP management station's event manager. Examples include cases where NetWorker needs operator intervention. In addition to notifying the operator through e-mail, a notification is also sent to the network management console.
• It provides the ability for the administrator to launch the NetWorker application from the SNMP main console.
